Want to make a big difference? We’re looking for volunteers who are ready to work closely with staff to offer programs, organize volunteer projects, care for Deer Lake, and more.
Volunteers are the backbone of our organization! As our volunteer coordinator, you will work with Deer Lake Outdoor Center’s to staff to recruit new volunteers, connect volunteers based on skills and interest with available activities, organize monthly volunteer workdays, track volunteer efforts, and recognize volunteers for their impact.
Do you have a passion for hiking? As Trail Manager, you will work with Deer Lake Outdoor Center’s staff to assess trail conditions, design trail repairs and new trails, teach others how to build and care for trails, and organize volunteer events to keep the trails open for everyone.
If you have an outdoor skill you want to share with others and you’re as passionate as we are about welcoming everyone outdoors, we want to hear from you! Guide a hike, introduce others to canoeing, kayaking, or rock climbing, or offer a program about local ecology or history.
We host official volunteer workdays once a month. Check the calendar to see our next volunteer opportunity. If you can’t make the work party but still wish to volunteer, please contact us. We are happy to have you whenever you can volunteer your time. We have small and large tasks, including maintenance of equipment, mowing, painting, landscaping, cleaning and clerical tasks. From time to time, we will also solicit help during events for check-ins, parking attendants, trail guides and more!
There is no age limit for volunteering, although some projects are not appropriate for young children. We encourage volunteerism at all ages and can help find the right fit. If you would like to volunteer with your child under the age of 12, please contact us for an age appropriate project.
