Having grown up in Maine, Ruth was a camper for 10 summers, and then on the summer camp staff for 7 summers, at an overnight camp in West Gardiner, Maine. It was there she learned the importance and enjoyment of being outdoors and living together in community. At camp, Ruth also discovered the joy of being a part of providing impactful (and often life-changing) summer camp and outdoor experiences for others – without having to be directly responsible for the campers.
After college and wandering through a variety of seasonal and customer service jobs, she had the opportunity to move to Connecticut and serve as the year-round Administrator and Registrar at a summer camp and retreat center for over 6 years, before joining the Deer Lake staff team.
Outside of work, Ruth enjoys attending concerts, theater performances, and sporting events; participating in community theater – primarily backstage, but sometimes on stage, too; road trips and traveling to new places; and staying in with a good book, movie, or TV show. She will (almost) never turn down an Italian meal, has visited 49 of the 50 states (only Hawaii is left), and is looking forward to helping Deer Lake grow and continue providing summer camp and outdoor experiences for everyone!
