As the end of the year approaches, many of us are looking for ways to give back to our local community. There is no better way to support the healthy development of our local children than by giving them a session at Deer Lake Day Camp next summer. By contributing to the Deer Lake Outdoor Center “Campership” program, you give the gift of the outdoors to a child who would not be able to afford this experience otherwise.
Thanks to you, a child will be able to experience the joys of camp at Deer Lake Day Camp. They will have the chance to learn to swim, create art from nature, hike through our 250+ acres, challenge themselves to get a bullseye on the archery range, experience adventures in our boats, and learn to work as a team to overcome challenges. Most importantly they will have the opportunity to make friendships and develop a love for the outdoors that will last them a lifetime.
Contributing to the Campership program is an investment in growing future generations who will continue to value preserving our wilderness next door. In an age where children spend more time on screens and less time exploring nature, time at summer camps forces them to disconnect from their devices and reconnect with people in nature. By fostering a love of the outdoors in our children through summer camp, we continue to grow a community that values the preservation of our natural world.
This year Giving Tuesday falls on December 3rd. This is the annual celebration of giving back during the holiday season. Many companies offer matching donations on this day. If you are considering making a donation this year, don’t forget to see if your company will double it. Donations for Camperships are accepted throughout the year.
