Welcome to Orienteering – A sport for Families, Hikers, and Runners of all ages!
Orienteering is the skill of finding one’s way through a series of checkpoints on an unfamiliar course using a map and a compass. We supply the map and course, but you decide how to get to each of the checkpoints. On your way, explore Deer Lake Outdoor Center. If you’re the competitive type, see how fast you can complete the course!
This event is hosted in collaboration with Western Connecticut Orienteering Club (WCOC). We will have beginners and intermediate courses to explore. Free instruction will be available — no experience is necessary. If you would like instruction, please arrive before 11 a.m. (it’s also a good idea to register in advance).
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged; groups of more than 4 must pre-register
Participants can register and begin at any time between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Control flags are collected beginning at 2:00 p.m. (participants must check in and finish the course by this time). Event is held rain or shine.
