Deer Lake Outdoor Center

Our Wilderness Next Door

What Sets Us Apart

The 253 acre property is composed of streams, woodlands, fields, open rock faces, and two private lakes nestled in the valley, perfect for hiking, camping, rock climbing, swimming, boating and canoeing opportunities. We have a dining hall which is great for weddings, events and meetings. We also offer rentals of cabins or the entire camp for your next event.

Summer Day Camp & Wilderness School

Our summer day camp is open to all children, grades kindergarten through eighth grade, and runs from mid-June to mid-August. For young adults in high school, we offer week-long programs through our Wilderness School.  Both programs are packed with outdoor adventures and are sure to create life-long friends and memories.

Deer Lake is owned and operated by a local non-profit and is maintained with the aid of volunteers and the support of generous donors. If you’re interested in helping, please contact us. We’d love to hear from you.

Outdoor Recreation Since the 1930s

The property is closely tied to Connecticut’s post-colonial history from the Revolutionary War to prohibition to today and has provided Killingworth and surrounding areas with outdoor recreation opportunities since the 1930s.

At Deer Lake

All are encouraged to participate in games, songs, and hands-on activities, allowing each individual to learn about the environment while having fun. The importance of sharing leadership and effectively communicating and building friendships with others is a key element often overlooked in today's fast-paced lifestyle.
